VIDEO 08 Survey Closes; Edirol R-4 Winner Selected

The post-VIDEO 08 on-line survey has closed. All survey participants were automatically entered in a drawing for an Edirol R-4 Four Channel Portable Recorder and WAVE Editor, courtesy of Roland Systems Group. The R-4 was won by Bob Pascussi, of Wellesley, MA.

“Our survey produced some interesting results,” said Steve Wernick, Director of Development. “In particular, the comments section offered some great insights on future programming”.

According to the survey results, about 20% of VIDEO 08 attendees were attending their first international-level conference. The results also showed that roughly 75% of VIDEO 08 attendees were professional video producers on a full-time basis. One of the intriguing survey results showed that about one quarter of VIDEO 08 attendees offered both photo and video services.

Sony was the camcorder brand of choice for an overwhelming number of survey respondents. Adobe Premier Pro and Final Cut Pro were used by about the same number of respondents, with Thomson Grass Valley’s Edius program used by about 15% of VIDEO 08 attendees. Other editing platforms, such as Vegas and MacroSystem, each accounted for less than 5% of responses.

“Are you sure you haven't made a mistake?” said Pascucci, the R-4 winner, expressing surprise and delight. “If not, I'd love to have the R-4 - I do a lot of sound design work for theatre companies, and it would come in handy”.
