Coming to a TV Near You!

Grab 'Em! - The Power of the Grand Opening

Dave Steward
Flashback Video, West Islip NY

President of LIVA, Long Island Videographers Association

How can you guarantee that your productions will keep the viewers in their seats?

Dave Steward will show you how to immediately grab the viewer’s attention, draw them in emotionally and guarantee they will watch and love the rest of your video.  Syd Field, the great film screenwriting teacher, taught to get and maintain the viewer’s interest in the first ten pages of a script.

Dave will show how to create grand openings that emulate motion pictures and TV.  Give up your old “cookie cutter” openings and utilize the techniques that make Dave’s grand openings so powerful.  Learn how the right titles give the viewer the appearance that he is watching something extremely important and very professional.  Discover how you can match music to the personality of your customer, and be creatively edited to fit the framework of your opening.

Dave will show you how to properly pace the opening; plus how simple effects, titles and cutting to the beat will have dramatic impact and similar to Movies and TV, learn how a “punch-line” is used as a lead in.   You’ll also learn how some of the shots that your might normally edit out may find a perfect home in your opening.  A truly grand opening not only gives you creative freedom from the traditional rules of event video editing, but it gives the client something they will remember and want to watch over and over again.

FEELING OUT OF YOUR DEPTH?  Feeling out of your depth-of-field? Learn everything you need to know about controlling f-stops, shutter-speed, focal length, and depth-of-field by joining wacky “scientists” Dan Strickler and Dave Hall, along with Dr. W.W. Rydbeck (via live satellite hookup), as they take you on a madcap adventure through basic photographic principles. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll LEARN!

Are you still wondering just what depth-of-field is? Do you ever vary the camera’s shutter-speed to create stunning effects?  When you sit someone down for an interview, do you pay any attention to the focal length of your lens or do you simply zoom in and frame?

Join the zany “scientists” Dan Strickler and Dave Hall, creators of the multi-award winning instructional video Camera Command, as they take you on a madcap adventure through the principles of photography. This seminar will give you an easy-to-understand overview of shutters, apertures, gain control, focal-length and how all these factors interrelate to form the video image. They’ll explore in detail the advantages of manipulating shutter-speed, how to improve video stills, how to enhance sports photography, and ways of dramatically bringing color back to those dull looking low-light receptions. Learn to select your f-stops to emphasize important details or to blur out distracting backgrounds.  Discover the power behind lens choice, how to flatter your bride and groom by careful choice of focal length, how to make a room look grander or more intimate, how to gain more control over your compositions and so much more!
